The results of the first stage of the assessment process for the South East Market Town Awards for 2007 into which Vision4Lee submitted two entries, the Vision 4 Lee Newsletter and the Lee on Solent Guided Walks.

The SERPT assessment panel has considered all the entries and accompanying material and has selected eight finalists to be invited to make a short presentation about their project during the final stage of assessment.

The Lee-on-the-Solent Guided Walks entry has been chosen as a finalist in the Social & Community Category and two representatives from Vision4Lee Steering Group have been invited to attend the presentation day in London at the BURA Offices, 4th Floor 63-66 Hatton Garden, London EC1N 8LE on the 13th June.

Vision4Lee will be asked to make a short presentation to the panel about the Guided Walks project and how it is connecting the community and creating a social resource for Lee on Solent. The presentation should be around fifteen minutes in length and up to a further fifteen minutes will be available for the panel to ask questions. If the Vision4Lee project is chosen as a category winner following the presentation day Vision4Lee will be invited to receive a certificate at a ceremony on the 10th July in Whitchurch, Hampshire. All category winners will also be considered for the overall regional title which will be announced at the ceremony

As a finalist Vision4Lee will receive a cheque for £250 which can be used to either help with our expenses for the day or simply as a contribution to the running of projects.

The Vision 4 Lee Newsletter entry was not successful in being chosen as a finalist on this occasion. The panel did appreciate the importance of communication in relation to delivering successful, community led, town regeneration and understand the benefits of utilising this approach and the hard work involved in achieving it. The panel wished all those involved in creating the newsletter well for the future.
