As a result of the Healthcheck process, public consultations, and Roadshows during the Summer/Autumn of 2006, the Way Forward plan has been developed and is available via www.vision4lee.co.uk see "The Way Forward" page. Some examples of projects identified are, a Community Shop in the High Street, produce a book of Memories of Lee based on the experiences of local residents and the appointment of a paid Project Officer to research the feasibility of the proposals identified. The Final report will be submitted to SERTP and SEEDA shortly. Vision4Lee is also working closely with the SEEDA Project Team, via the Lee Advisory and Consultation Group (LACG) in respect of the future use of the Daedalus site. The latest V4L Newsletter (Spring 07) is also available via the above website. The next stage of the MTI process is to establish a Lee-on-the-Solent Town Partnership. A draft constitution is currently being prepared by a V4L Sub Group and once completed local community groups, businesses and organisations including GBC will be invited to form a Lee Town Partnership to take forward the projects identified.
Two of Vision4Lee's projects have recently been nominated for the South East Market Town Awards. The Vision4Lee Newsletter has been submitted to the 'Social & Community' category, and the Lee Historic Waterfront Walk and Talk has been accepted as an entrant for the 'Environment & Culture' award section. Eight finalists will be chosen from the 4 Awards categories, and these finalists will receive £250 to either create a presentation for the Award Panel at the final assessment day, or alternatively the funds can be used by the group to simply contribute towards their ongoing work. The overall winner out of the 4 categories will then go on to represent the South East in the National Market Town Awards 2007. The Vision4Lee group would like to thank everyone who has helped with their research, consultation and project work to date and made the nomination for these awards possible.
