Vision 4 Lee is an organisation, set up in 2004, with the remit of finding ways to revitalise Lee on Solent, both economically and also as a vibrant place to live. At the moment it's made up of a group of individuals representing a wide variety of organisations from Lee, who worked together to complete a Healthcheck.
The Healthcheck is a large questionnaire which contains a summary of different aspects to Lee on the Solent. It encompasses information on businesses, the economy, the environment, social aspects of life here, transport links and tourism.
The group has drawn up an Action Plan of ideas which we hope to implement over the short, medium and long term to make Lee on Solent a thriving place to live with healthy businesses and a good community feel to the place.
All of the interviews with local residents have been completed and the results typed up. The next stage is ongoing in that a publisher has been contacted with a view to coordinating the interviews and then produce a draft for checking and publication.
The printing cost for 1000 copies is estimated to be around £800.00 and sponsors are being sought to help fund this project. Sponsors who are willing to support this project with funding will have their names added to be book cover.
All proceeds from the sale of the Memories of Lee book will be used by Vision4Lee to support local group projects in the Lee Community. It is planned to launch the Memories of Lee Book at the Lee Schools Fair on Saturday 28 June 2008.

In order to promote Lee-on-the-Solent, both from a business, tourism and interesting place to live, Vision4Lee have embarked on a project to produce a Life in Lee DVD.
Production of the DVD will be undertaken by Media Students at St Vincent College. The Media students have formed a Team and will visit community events and locations in and around Lee over the next 5 months.
The plan is to include as much as possible of what goes on in Lee-on-the-Solent and the immediate hinterland of Gosport, Hill Head and Stubbington so that the DVD can be purchased by local businesses, groups, etc. to sell to residents and visitors.
The printing cost for a bulk order of the completed DVD is estimated to be around £2000.00 and sponsors and being sought to help fund this project. Sponsors who are willing to support this project with funding will have their names added to the DVD. All proceeds received by Vision4Lee from the sale of the DVD will be used by Vision4Lee to support local group projects in the Lee Community.
It is planned to launch the DVD at the LBA/LOSRA Lee Festival 2008 being held on Saturday 23 August 2008. If you can help then get in touch via the contact us link.

Lee-on-the-Solent is one of a number of towns in Hampshire that meet the criteria for assistance from the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) under the £1.2 million Market Towns Initiative promoted by Hampshire Market Town Partnership.
Led by the Economic Development Office at Hampshire County Council, and enthusiastically supported by Gosport Borough Council, the scheme would offer grant funding for projects aimed at improving services, generating new jobs, creating new businesses or enhancing learning opportunities and thereby making a significant impact on the town's economy.
In order to access these new grants the townspeople, businesses and associations must first prepare a Market Town Health check to identify issues and prioritise the most suitable projects for the benefit of the community.
A group of local volunteers is helping to get the Health check process started under the working title of ‘Vision4Lee'.
“We would still like to hear from local people interested in helping with the execution and management of the necessary research and information collection work” said Evelyn Beale past chairman of the group. "This is a super opportunity for Lee residents, associations, businesses and even visitors to learn more about our town and to help shape the future development with ideas for schemes they feel will benefit the town and which might trigger additional funding and support opportunities.”
